Double Hole-in-One Highlights Record-Breaking York Vikings Rotary Charity Golf Day
The York Vikings Rotary Club charity golf day at York Golf Club was a day to remember, with two golfers achieving the rare feat of scoring a hole-in-one. Steve Shipley, representing Hentons, chartered accountants, and Jordan Ramnauth of Marshall Thompson Leadwork, each accomplished a hole-in-one on Thursday, May 8, making this year’s event truly historic.
Steve Shipley holed out with a pitching wedge on the par 3, 119-yard 11th hole, while Jordan Ramnauth used a hybrid to sink his 184-yard tee shot. Both golfers were presented with a coveted trophy by York Golf Club, which recognizes all players who achieve this milestone on their acclaimed course.
Reflecting on the day, Neil Holt, President of York Vikings Rotary, said:
“Not only is this the first time this has happened on one of our golf days, but we also haven’t been able to identify whether two holes in one have ever been scored at a charity golf day on the same day before.”
The golf day, now a staple on the charity sporting calendar, has helped York Vikings raise nearly £250,000 over the years at York Golf Club. These vital funds support a variety of good causes in the local community, making it the club’s largest annual fundraising event.
This year’s tournament winners were Dean Construction, who have already indicated their intention to defend their title at the next event.
Plans are already underway for the next York Vikings Rotary Golf Day at York Golf Club. With demand for places higher than ever, teams interested in entering are encouraged to act quickly to secure their spot.
